Cargill to Purchase LNB International Feed B.V. Cobham, January 09 2007 - Cargill today announced plans to purchase LNB International Feed B.V., a privately held animal nutrition premix business.
The acquisition has been approved by the Polish and Romanian anti-trust authorities and is expected to be completed by the end of February 2007.
The acquisition of LNB will complement Cargill’s animal feed business, which produces concentrates and complete feed in Poland, Switzerland, Hungary, Italy, Spain, and Portugal in Europe as well as many other countries worldwide. It will extend Cargill’s current supply network to new important markets while also adding premix to the portfolio.
LNB has approximately 270 employees in manufacturing sites in Poland, Romania and Suriname, and sales offices in the Netherlands and Russia. The company also has toll manufacturing arrangements in the Netherlands and Belgium and exports to approximately 50 countries in Asia, Africa, the Americas, the Caribbean and the Middle East.
The main business focus of LNB is the production of premix – a mineral and/or vitamin supplement that farmers and feed manufacturers use to make complete feeds for their customers or their own animals.

Cargill koopt Brabantse LNB International Feed
Het Amerikaanse agriconcern Cargill neemt de Brabantse premixenfabrikant LNB International Feed over van de Curaçaose houdstermaatschappij Nutrivest. Een overnamesom is niet bekend gemaakt. Cargill liet wel weten dat de aankoop van LNB de op één na grootste overname is die het bedrijf ooit deed in de veevoersector. De grootste overname tot dusverre was die van het Amerikaanse Agribrands in 2001, voor een bedrag van zo'n 415 miljoen euro.
LNB is gevestigd in Nistelrode en heeft zo'n 270 werknemers. Het bedrijf heeft productievestigingen in Polen, Roemenië en Suriname en verkoopt zijn halffabrikaten voor veevoeders in 50 landen. LNB is vooral actief in opkomende markten in onder meer Oost-Europa, Latijns-Amerika en het Verre Oosten. De omzet is de afgelopen drie jaar gegroeid van 55 miljoen euro tot ver boven de 100 miljoen euro. Het bedrijf is zeer winstgevend.

Voor Cargill is LNB interessant vanwege deze gerichtheid op groeimarkten en vanwege de productie van premixen, die de Amerikanen zelf nog niet maakten. David Webster, vicepresident van de diervoederdivisie van Cargill, stelt dat de stijgende inkomens in veel landen zorgen ervoor dat steeds meer mensen dierlijke producten gaan eten. Bij die ontwikkeling wil Cargill een belangrijke rol spelen, aldus Webster.
